Allyn Conner
Associate Director

Mrs. Allyn Conner is in her seventh year of teaching and has been teaching in Comal ISD since 2022. She is a 2013 graduate of La Vernia High School, where she was a three-year All-State Musician, recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award, and Section Leader for the only band in the schools history to compete at the UIL State Marching Contest - an experience that shaped her passion for music education.
Mrs. Conner went on to attend Texas State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Studies with a concentration in clarinet in 2018. During her time at Texas State, she served as a Section Leader for the Bobcat Marching Band and studied under esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Vanguel Tangarov (clarinet), Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt (music education), Dr. Kyle Glaser, Dr. Caroline Beatty, and more. Her dedication and excellence in the classroom were recognized when she was named the Fall 2018 Outstanding Student Teacher within the Department of Education.
She began her teaching career at Earl Warren High School in Northside ISD, where she served from 2019 to 2022 as the woodwind specialist and visual instructor. During her time at Warren, her concert and marching ensembles consistently earned superior ratings at all UIL Contests.
Allyn joined the Pieper Band of Warriors staff in 2022 during the programs’s second year, a pivotal time when the ensemble was establishing a strong foundation and expanding its competitive presence. That spring they made history as the first Comal ISD band to earn the Chairman’s Award and win the San Antonio Battle of Flowers Band Festival. By the third year of the program’s existence, Fall 2023, the BoW made their first-ever Bands of America Finals appearance at the South Texas Regional Championship, earning class champion and overall silver medalist honors, while also placing as area finalists and advancing to the UIL 5A State Marching Contest for the first time with their show Checkmate.
The program’s success continued through 2024, being selected as a 2024 Battle of Flowers Feature Band in the Spring and advancing to finals at the BOA Central Texas Regional Championship that fall. They returned to the UIL State Marching Contest for the second consecutive year with their Beatles-themed show Come Together, where they placed 17th out of 38 bands. Under Mrs. Conner’s leadership, the woodwind section was ranked 12th.
Since the start of her teaching career, every ensemble under Mrs. Conner’s direction has earned straight Division I (Superior) ratings at every UIL Marching and Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation. The Symphonic Winds Ensemble - Pieper High School’s Non-Varsity (second) ensemble under the direction of Mrs. Conner - earned superior ratings at UIL for the third consecutive year and received the “Exceptional Musicianship Award” at the 2025 TLU Band Fest. Additionally, the ensemble has been selected as one of sixteen groups to perform at the prestigious 2026 YOSA Invitational at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
Mrs. Conner is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. She shares her passion for music education with her husband, Joshua Conner, who is also a band director at Brandeis High School. They reside in San Antonio with their two beloved dogs Charlie and Lola.
